Following last week's post, I thought I'd let you know what fruits, veggies, and herbs are coming into season in July!
It's hard in Early June, in Iowa, to find things that I like at the Farmer's Market. Iowa has some crazy weather conditions, so I have to wait really patiently until July. That's when it seems like everything starts popping out of the ground or growing from the trees! Today I'm going to give you a list of what fruits, vegetables, and herbs that are coming into season!
According to Sustainable Table's Seasonal Food Guide, Early July is bringing Apples, Arugula, Basil, Green Beans, Beet, Blackberries, Blueberries, Broccoli, Cabbage, Carrots, Chard, Tart Cherries, Cilantro, Corn, Cucumbers, Grapes, Collard Greens, Kale, Kohlrabi, Lettuce, Mushrooms, Onions, Parsley, Peaches, Peas, Peppers, Plums, Potatoes, Radishes, Raspberries, Spinach, Summer Squash, Tomatoes, Turnips, and Zucchini.
As I was reading through this list, I just started imagining all of the yummy recipes and my stomach started growling.
Time for a snack!
Okay, but back to business. Some recipes that immediately come to mind are homemade salsa, homemade spaghetti sauce, salads of all sorts, cole slaw, and more! You can find some of these recipes in the recipes tab under the blog tab!
I hope you guys enjoyed learning a little bit more about what's in season, and hopefully these recipes will give you a push to head out to your local Farmer's Markets and try some of these delicious summer recipes!
