Going into San Fransisco, I had done almost zero research. I honestly thought I was going to San Diego until about 3 weeks before my trip. The only thing I knew what where my Airbnb was. Nevertheless, myself, my mom, and sister headed out into the unknown!
Quick Tip for all of you: It's totally worth it to get an early flight out to your destination, but when coming back, unless you have a place to hold your luggage, getting a later flight to spend more time in your destination won't make much of a difference.
Now, onto my top things to do in San Fransisco!
Alcatraz Island, was one thing I knew I wanted to see in San Fransisco. There's something about going to a prison on a spooky island, on a foggy morning that just sounded so intriguing. And it was so cool. I would recommend doing the audio tour when you get there, as you get to learn a lot about the facility. It take about an hour to an hour and a half depending on how fast you want to take the tour.
Technically called the Muir Woods, are beautiful. If you are into hiking or just in general a fan of the outdoors, I would absolutely recommend you rent a car and drive out there. It's about a 20-30 minute drive from San Fransisco, but honestly there's something so humbling about being feeling small within nature. Redwoods can grow to be up to over 300 feet. In fact, the tallest tree is a Redwood that is 379 feet tall!
As a culinary girl who is lowkey obsessed with carbs. You can bet, I made a point to try some top notch Sour Dough Bread. Boudin bakery has the original San Fransisco Sour Dough. They have a casual dining area or a full restaurant at their Wharf location. They offer unique uses of sour dough, like tacos. WHO KNEW?! Literally so good. And if you're super into checking out how stuff is made, you can take a tour of their bakery. I would highly recommend it.
If you're looking for more suggestions on places to go in San Fransisco! Send me an email or message through the contact tab! If you have an idea for where I should travel, put it in the comments! It's officially October 1st, which means in two weeks I'll be going to TWO concerts in one weekend in two different states. And you can bet I'll be writing a post on it, so stay tuned for that.
