I haven’t been on a trip since Florida, but I was pleasantly surprised when Bailey asked me to go to Minnesota with her for the day. She had to return some things from over Christmas break, so we decided to make a day out of it.
We had it all planned out that we would leave my 8 am, get there by noon at the latest and then leave back for Ames around 5. Well, let’s just say none of these things went according to plan. Literally we didn’t leave until 8:30am. But that was only 30 minutes, nothing big. Then the tire pressure light came on in Bailey’s car. So, we pulled over to fill it up. To our surprise someone had actually hit her tire with their tire and punctured it, so it was losing air. So we drove 15 miles to the nearest Walmart to get it fixed and boy are we glad we did. The technician told us our tire would have blown up if we hadn’t stopped.
So we had to buy a new tire… And changing a tire take like 30 minutes tops. But due to some unfortunate circumstances, we sat in Walmart for an hour and a half. So we did actually even get to our first stop until 3pm. But we were not going to let that stop us from having a good time. We first stopped at Crate and Barrel because that is where the bulk of things needed to be returned. Then it was to the Mall of America.
Now if you’ve never been to the Mall of America, it’s huge. I mean like 4 floors of stores and restaurants and a theme park right in the middle. Like it is ginormous. But also super fun to explore. Especially because they just finished up a couple projects like their Culinary on North, which is nicer restaurants, and added a few more stores like the biggest Anthropologie.
We spent the rest of the day walking, which was kind of exhausting but honestly also so much fun. We weren't looking to buy anything in particular, so we had tons of freedom to go wherever we wanted and just kind of explore. We both ended getting some clothes and the things. But honestly we took about 1 million pictures. So most of those will be at the bottom in a slideshow!
One of the best parts about Minnesota is it's only 3 hours away from Ames, so it's feasible to make a day out of it and explore a completely different state. So thanks Minnesota for treating us well! (:
