My whole goal since I started Culinary School has been to open my bakery, and while I may not have a store front, that dream is coming true!
After my first cake decorating class at Hobby Lobby, I instantly knew that one day I wanted to bake for a living. Now being 10 at the time, I had no idea how many different professions would come across my mind. I thought I might want to be a psychologist or a hair dresser, but after 6 years of going back and forth I finally went back to that dream that I had at 10 years old. I wanted bake.
Taking my baking classes in school really confirmed my love for it. Learning so many new techniques and recipes was SO much fun. It was really neat to also be able to learn baking and decorating from a woman who actually owned her own coffee shop and bakery in Ames. I also have found that to be in this industry it's really important to know that there is always something new to be learnt in your field. I'm eager to receive any advice or learn new techniques anytime I can!
Now after graduating from Culinary School, I have started doing small dessert catering. The name of my business is My Father's Joy, which I talked about in my last blog post
So, as of right now, I am taking small to medium size orders of basically whatever baked goods people are throwing my way. I've done three orders so far, two are already done and completed and the third one is scheduled for this weekend. So if you know anyone who is looking to have desserts catered out for any kind of party then definitely hit me up! I linked my Facebook page to the name of my business in the paragraph above.
