So, as many of you might have noticed I took the first two weeks of October off. This actually wasn't meant to happen, but once it happened I realized it was MUCH needed.
Early last week, I decided that it would be fun to have my cousins over to decorate cookies. Why did I have this idea? I couldn't tell ya. It just came to me, so I went for it. Now, my cousins are all 6 or under... I had three of them come over... Some people might think this would have been a disaster. And, I mean yes, it was a complete mess in the kitchen. But to see them smiling and laughing the entire time, made my heart so stinking happy!
The recipe we made came from Sugar Bea's Blog. This is an awesome recipe! The cookies didn't spread at all! I can't remember which website I got my royal icing recipe from, but it was awesome. It had 2 egg whites, 1 tsp. lemon juice, 2 lbs. powder sugar, and water to get your desired consistency.
I made the candy corn one on the left, but honestly these kids have a future in baking! They piped frosting like pros. And even though it was semi-stressful because I like to be in control when I bake, I loved every minute of spending time with them.
And if you were wondering if we ate any cookies while we were decorating the answer to that is a resounding YES!
Sometimes it's hanging out with your cousins on a Friday night that can make your whole weekend even better. So, take a moment, relax have fun . You won't regret it.
