Miami here I come!
Today we traveled about 2 hours outside of comfortable Naples, to the Adventerous city of Miami!
We left our house at around 8:30am to drive out to Miami. We started the day out by getting Starbucks. Because, honestly what is a roadtrip without Starbucks. Then we headed out on our trek. The drive seemed pretty long, but our family hashed out some 2017 goal planning, which helped it go a little quicker.
As we got to Miami, we decided to start off at the Lincoln Road Shopping Center. It was outdoor so we got to soak up all of the Miami sun rays, and boy was it hot! I am going to apologize to all my fellow Iowans, because it was 90 today and I know it was 5 degrees yesterday... But I am taking full advantage of all the heat.
We spent most of our time on Lincoln Road moazying through stores. A couple of my favorites were Dylan's Candy Bar, Anthropology, and Laudrée. I had only heard about Dylan's Candy Bar, because there's a huge one in New York City. They always have those candies that you can't buy anywhere else. Anthropology is just one of my favorite stores. They offer an awesome selection of bohemian style clothing, home decor, and accessories. I'm obsessed with them. Laudrée is a bakery more than an actual store. But guys, this is a chain of a bakery I went to in Paris. They have the BEST macarons. I got champagne and mixed berry, Caramel and Salted Butter, and Rose. Literally so good.
After we drove around Miami a little bit, we decided that it would be wrong to leave Miami without going to the beach. So we stood on the beach for 15 min, stepped in the water, and took some pictures. We then headed over to South Pointe to watch the sun set from the pier. Sadly it was pretty cloudy, but I still managed to get some pretty good pictures.
After that, we decided to get dinner. I really wanted to get Cuban food for dinner, specifically a cubano. I've had one back in Iowa, but I figured since I was in Miami, I probably should have an authentic sandwich. But unfortunately most of the Cuban restaurants close at 6pm and we didn't even leave for supper until 5:45, so that wasn't an option. We ended up eating at an Asian BBQ Fusion restaurant called Gigi. No joke, literally the best fried rice ever. So stinking good.
After that we made the long, exhausted drive back to Naples. Which was filled with tons of traffic and crazy directions, but we finally made it back to Naples.
Update: I'm aware that I missed December 13th... it wasn't super exciting but it has been acknowledged.
What is your favorite thing to do outside during the winter?
