I don't know about you, but I'm a super visual learner/creative. So naturally, I am obsessed with Pinterest. But watching movies and TV is one of my favorite pass-times. So, today, I'm going to be sharing 5 of my favorite Wanderlust Inspired Movies.
The Secret Life of Walter Mitty follows a worker (Ben Stiller) at Time Magazine while they were still in print and using and developing film for their magazine. Walter lives a very careful and calculated lifestyle so it only makes sense that he gets sent on an incredible journey to recover the final cover photo of the last in print Time magazine. Watching Walter break out of his shell and travel to places he never thought he would be, makes me, if not everyone, immediately want to hop of the next plane to anywhere and live out their life. Throwing extreme caution to the wind, and living life as the adventure that it should be.
Wild is a movie following a woman (Reese Witherspoon) on her personal journey backpacking the Pacific Coast Trail. The movie shows her journey with not only the physical hardships of the trek but also the mental hardships. Most people train and prepare for months or years before hiking the entire trail. So similarly to The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, she chooses to throw all caution to the wind and use travel to help heal the wounds of her personal tragedies. After watching it, I had this weird hankering to get lost in the wild and never return to everyday life.
Though the Hundred-Foot Journey is probably not thought of as a travel movie, but for me it hits both of my favorite things, Food and Travel. It's about an Indian family that ends up moving to France to start over. They bring their Indian cuisine to their new country, across the street from a highly established French restaurant. Throughout feuds between the two restaurants, the owner of the French restaurant begins to teach a highly teachable son of the owner of the Indian restaurant. Overall it gives me the feels of giving anything a chance, whether it's traveling to a new place or falling into an unknown opportunity.
If you've ever watch Sex and the City, it's basically all about girl power. In Sex and the City 2, it's basically the end of the road for these women's story. So they take one last amazing trip, to Abu Dhabi. Honestly, the reason this gives me Wanderlust is because I've never really thought of visiting the Middle East until I watched that movie. Plus it should make any girl gang want to travel together.
Into the Wild is about a guy, who goes off the grid to travel full-time. He goes from place to place and job to job living on the edge. It really gives in to that desire we've all had to drop our whole lives to travel. I've thought about it on and off since I've graduated high school. Honestly, I don't think I could do it, but I hope to take a month of six to travel sometime in my life.
What'd you think of my list? Did I miss a movie you thought should have made it? Leave it in the comments!
