Everyone who has lived in Iowa knows the importance of a good burger in the summer.
Summer includes Bonfires, Stargazing, Camping, and Grill Outs that inevitably includes Burgers. Burgers are the staple at every barbecue, party, and your average family grill out. Everyone has different opinions on how to cook, season, and top their burgers, but today I'm going to share 4 of my favorite recipes for summer burgers! All of the exact recipes can be found in the recipes section of the blog tab and will also be linked to the name of the recipe in this post!
First off is the burger you see above. It's actually a very simple added ingredient that actually makes a whole world of a difference. It's call Slap Ya Mama. I know what you're thinking and, yes, it really is called that. Basically it's similar to a cajun seasoning and we discovered it in Arkansas a few years ago and literally put in on everything from eggs to burgers. I've been able to find it at my local Hyvee, but you can always order it online if your local grocery store doesn't have it in stock. This burger is delicious by itself, but I have been trying to more adventurous with my food so I decided to top it with exciting ingredients. That day, I decided to top my burger with cooked spinach, feta cheese, and balsamic. And it was delicious!
Next is a Beef Kefta Burger. It has a Moroccan influence with its hints of coriander, cumin, and cinnamon. Now cinnamon in a burger might sound strange, but trust me once you try it, you'll be hooked. My family usually eats our burgers bunless because both my mom and dad have Celiac Disease, so we don't keep much normal bread in the house. By itself it's delicious, with cheese it's delicious, and on a bun it's delicious. You just really can't go wrong.
Next is a Bacon Burger on a Brioche Bun. I mean honestly, where can you go wrong with bacon, burger, and brioche? This burger is piled high with red onions, bacon, and brie. You get a whole host of flavors and textures from the crispy, salty bacon to the creamy, almost sour mayo spread. This burger hits all the spots.
And lastly is the Smoked Gouda and Bacon Burger with Barbecue sauce. Yes this burger also has bacon, which is kind of ironic considering I'm not a huge fan of bacon.... Judge me I know, I'm crazy. Now, I'm personally a huge fan of gouda, especially if it is smoked! And I've been putting barbecue sauce on just about anything since birth, so this burger sounds like heaven to me! It also has just a hint of spiciness from the hot sauce in the onions, man I'm getting seriously hungry just writing about this.. And also you should probably know that this isn't exactly a burger, it's technically more of a patty melt... But it's delicious and if you want to then you can put it on a burger bun!
I hope you all enjoyed this post! I had a ton of fun writing it! I really want to have a grill out now... Hmmm maybe some planning needs to be done... Maybe I should write a blog post about that....? We shall see what comes of this...
